Susan Jane Ryder

December 14, 1951 - February 2, 2022

Susan Jane Ryder, 70, of Morganville, NJ passed away on Tuesday, February 2, 2022, at Jersey Shore Medical Center in Neptune, NJ after a battle with lung cancer. She was born on December 14, 1951, to the late William and Elva (Donnell) Ryder at Perth Amboy Hospital in New Jersey. Susan worked as a Supervisor for the New Jersey Motor Vehicle Commission in Matawan and Freehold for 25 years. She also worked as a bartender at the Town Tavern in Matawan for many years as well as the Friendly Shop in Matawan. She grew up in Matawan, NJ and lived there until 2005 when she moved to Morganville, NJ. Susan was an avid Yankee fan, and she played softball when she was younger. She enjoyed spending time with her family and cats, was creative and enjoyed playing cards with friends. Susan is survived by her partner of 21 years, William Boyle, her three sisters, Lisa Ryder of Long Branch, NJ, Ann Marie Scheller and her husband Bob of Hazlet, Maureen McGuire and her husband, John of Toms River; brother William Ryder of Old Bridge, NJ, 8 nieces and nephews and 6 great nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her stepdaughter, Shelby Boyle and step-granddaughter Penelope, whom both live with her and William. She was preceded in death by her mother, Elva Donnell Ryder, her father and step-mother William and Anna Wiggins Ryder, her brother, Barry Wiggins and her sister-in-law Beth Lovero Ryder. Visitation will be held on Monday, February 7, 2022, from 5:00 - 9:00pm at Waitt Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 501 Hwy 79, Morganville, NJ. Funeral services will be held on Monday, February 7, 2022, 7:30pm at the Waitt Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 501 Hwy. 79, Morganville, NJ. Final respects will take place on Tuesday, February 8, 2022, 8:30 am at the funeral home. Burial to immediately follow at Rose Hill Cemetery, Matawan, NJ. In lieu of flowers donations can be made in Susan's name to the ASPCA https://www.aspca.org or to a local Animal Shelter. Online condolences can be given at www.waittfh.com.
