Stephen A. Rooke

August 20, 1968 - July 10, 2019

Stephen A. Rooke, 50, life-long resident of Keyport, passed away Wednesday, July 10, 2019. Beloved father of Stephen C. Rooke and his fiancée Rachel and Matthew Rooke. Devoted son of Mary Rooke and the late Arthur Rooke. Cherished brother of David Rooke and wife Michelle. Loving uncle of Allyson, Samantha and Gabrielle Rooke. Caring nephew of Barbara Brennan and her husband Richard, the late David L. Rooke and wife Amelia, the late Dorothy Pelose and husband George, the late Edna Stover and husband George, Robert Shea and wife Liz, the late Jerry Shea and his surviving wife Mary, William Shea and wife Annie, Constance Hnat and husband Pete and Anne Marie Shea. He is also survived by many beloved cousins, friends and his former wife Kelly Rooke. Stephen was a decorated veteran of the City of Elizabeth Fire Department for 27 years, as well as a volunteer for the Keyport Fire Department. He also spent much time volunteering and helping during the aftermath of 9/11 at Ground Zero. Stephen worked hard to achieve the goal of becoming a Coast Guard Licensed Captain, which he recently achieved. He was also an avid fisherman and loved camping and canoeing with his sons, family and friends. Family and friends may visit Sunday, July 14, 4:00pm to 9:00pm at the Bedle Funeral Home, 61 Broad Street, Keyport. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Monday, July 15 at 10:00am at Jesus the Lord RC Church in Keyport, followed by burial at Cedarwood Cemetery in Hazlet. While flowers are always welcome, donations may also be made in Stephen's memory to the St. Barnabas Burn Center through his personal memorial donation page at www.inmemof.org/stephen-rooke
