Ruth Sickinger Pearson,86, of Hazlet, passed away on May 16, 2022. She was born in Kearny New Jersey and had lived in Union Beach before moving to Hazlet 58 years ago. Ruth was very community minded and community service was very important to her. She was always known to give of herself. After raising her family, she went back to college and received her Associates Degree in Education and became a schoolteacher. She had dedicated over 60 years of service to the Girl Scouts and has received numerous awards including the Jessie Blair Above and Beyond Award. Her memory will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew her. She was predeceased by her husband of 61 years, Howard Boss Pearson Jr, her parents Julius and Ruth Sickinger, a son Craig Howard Pearson, brothers and sister-in-law's Julius and Kathleen Sickinger, and Paul and Pat Sickinger, and sister Joan Sickinger. She leaves behind a sister Dolores Sickinger, 3 sons Howard Boss Pearson III, David Pearson and Michael Pearson, 4 daughters, Bonnie Mae Quigley, Debra Ann Pearson, Kathleen Pearson, and Ruth Ann McBee, a sister-in-law Reverend Mary Jones, 5 son and daughter-in-laws, 6 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren and numerous other family and friends. Graveside services will take place on Friday, May 20, 2022, at 11:00am at Shoreland Memorial Gardens and a celebration of life service will follow the burial at Morganville United Methodist Church, Morganville at 1:00pm. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made in her name to the Girl Scouts of the Jersey Shore 242 Adelphia Road, Farmingdale, NJ 07727.
