Richard McDonald

March 1, 1954 - January 27, 2022

Richard B. McDonald, 67, of South Amboy, NJ, passed away on Thursday, January 27, 2022, at the Jersey Shore Medical Center in Neptune, NJ. Richard was born on March 1, 1954 to Raymond and Grace McDonald in Jersey City, NJ. He worked as a Building Equipment Mechanic for the U S Postal Service in Kearny, NJ for 26 years before retiring in 2015. On October 8, 1978, Richard married Carmela D'Adamo. Richard and Carmela lived in North Middletown, NJ before moving to Old Bridge 21 years ago. He was a communicant of Most Holy Redeemer Church in Matawan, NJ. Richard proudly served his country in the United States Coast Guard for 28 years. Richard loved to spend time with his family and friends, especially with his grandsons Eric and Evan. He always enjoyed helping other people and putting a smile on their faces. He was dedicated to the Coast Guard, his country, and his faith, Richard was preceded in death by his father, Raymond McDonald, and his mother, Grace Pearson McDonald. He is survived by his loving wife Carmela of 43 years, his sons Eric McDonald and Todd McDonald: his daughter, Kayla McDonald; his brother, Scott McDonald and his wife Georgianna; and two grandsons, Eric, and Evan. Visitation will be held Tuesday, February 1, 2022, 4:00 PM - 8:00 PM at the Old Bridge Funeral Home, 2350 CR 516, Old Bridge, NJ 08857 A Mass Of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, February 2, 2022, 10:00 AM at Most Holy Redeemer Church, 133 Amboy Rd., Matawan, NJ, Private cremation will take place in the Jersey Memorial Crematory. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Wounded Warrior Project. Online condolences can be given at www.oldbridgefh.com .
