Lorraine F. Halton

June 22, 1928 - April 24, 2022

Lorraine F. Halton, 93, of Preferred Care, Wall, NJ and Laurelton Gardens, Brick, NJ, passed away peacefully on April 24, 2022. Lorraine was born on June 22, 1928 to Arthur and Marion Finnerty O'Connor in Bayonne, NJ. She was preceded in death by her husband Eugene Halton, her brother Arthur O'Connor and her stepmother, Ann O'Connor. Lorraine grew up in the home of her grandparents, William and Caroline O'Connor, on 54th Street in Bayonne. She graduated from Holy Family Academy in 1946. For a number of years in the 1960s Lorraine worked as a secretary at Fort Monmouth, and later in the early 1990s in the hotel industry in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Throughout her life she loved to paint and draw, and left some wonderful images for her children and grandchildren. In 1947 Lorraine married the love of her life, Eugene Halton, going on to have 2 children, Eugene Halton Jr. (Barbara) and Keith Halton. The family moved to Manasquan in 1960. Lorraine loved being a mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and homemaker. She had a wonderful sense of humor and was able to live independently until the age of 93. She loved to read, do crossword puzzles, and walk, sit and feel peaceful at the Manasquan inlet. She took great joy in and care for the happiness of her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Lorraine is survived by her 2 sons and her 6 grandchildren, Jacob (Gwen) Halton, and Gemma (Antwon) Smith, as well as Keiran (Gianna) Halton, Brendan (Ashleigh) Halton, Ian (Fallon) Halton, and Nora (Robert) Halton and their mother, Maeve Halton. She is also survived by her great-grandchildren, Aiven Smith, Sophia Shinkos, Adrian Smith, Xavier Smith, Haisley Halton, and Westley Halton. In the last year of her life Lorraine said, "If I kick the bucket, remember that I've had a really good life. And I loved everyone in it."
