John T Scarpari Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

John Thomas Scarpari, 68, of Brick Township, peacefully passed away with his loved ones by his side on June 24, 2022, at Hackensack Meridian Hospital in Brick Twp, NJ. Born in Newark, John grew up in Old Bridge and then settled in Monroe Township with his loving wife Ellen and their family until the passing of his wife. During the later part of his life, John moved to Brick Township, where he lived with his devoted girlfriend Rhoda Giuffre. While in Monroe, John devoted his time to being the ultimate "girl dad" and raising his four free-spirited daughters. He and his wife Ellen were instrumental in the formation of the Monroe Township Girls' Softball Association. They, along with other township parents, are credited with starting the momentum that has made Monroe a softball powerhouse to this day. In 2019, John retired as a shop steward for Local 1804-1 of the International Longshoremen's Association, where he worked for over 40 years. He felt immense pride in his role as part of the union, and helped countless members through his leadership and loyalty. John was a fun, vibrant, and selfless man who expressed that to all whom he encountered. Those who know him will remember him for his love of fishing, traveling, the Yankees, and the Rolling Stones. John was a devoted husband, father, uncle, brother, cousin, and friend, but nothing brought him more joy than being a proud "pop" to his grandson, James. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him. John is predeceased by his parents, Vincent and Marlynne Scarpari, his sister Nina, and his wife Ellen, to whom he was married for 37 years. He is survived by his girlfriend, Rhoda Giuffre, daughters, Danielle Fraser and her husband Joe Fraser, Michelle Scarpari, Lauren Scarpari and her fiance Michael Cafro, Jackie Scarpari, his loving grandson James, and many nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends are invited to gather on Wednesday, June 29, 2022 from 4pm to 8pm at the Old Bridge Funeral Home, located at 2350 Route 516, Old Bridge NJ 08857. A funeral mass will be held at 10:30am on Thursday, June 30, 2022 at St. Ambrose Church, located at 96 Throckmorton Lane, Old Bridge NJ 08857. Cremation will be held privately.
