Douglas Bowsky, 74, of Old Bridge, passed away on October 21, 2021, at Raritan Bay Medical Center in Old Bridge, NJ. He was born on October 16, 1947, to Ralph and Nettie Bowsky in McComb, Mississippi. Douglas spent his childhood in Mississippi before moving to Brooklyn, NY, at age 11. He spent some years in Brooklyn before moving to Old Bridge with his wife, Mary, in 1989. Douglas worked in retail for over 50 years at both Sears and Home Depot where he used his skills to help his staff and customers alike. He had love for his neighbor and was everyone's versatile handy man, always offering help to anyone who needed something fixed. Though not an avid sports fan, he was a softball coach for many years in Madison Park, where he adored coaching for his daughter's team. Douglas was a loving partner to his wife, Mary, and a companion to her on their many adventures, a devoted father, and a delighted grandfather to his grandchildren. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. Douglas is survived by his loving spouse of 32 years, Mary; his son, Douglas Bowsky, Jr.; his three daughters, Catrece Bowsky-Williams, Rebecca Bowsky and Amanda Bowsky; his four sisters, Delight, Yvonne, Ann and Barbara; his many grandchildren, nieces, nephews; and a host of loving in-laws, family and friends. Visitation will be held Monday and Tuesday, October 25 and 26, 2021, from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm, at Bedle Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 212 Main Street, Matawan, NJ 07747, followed by a private cremation. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, October 28, at 10:00 am at Most Holy Redeemer Church, 133 Amboy Road, Matawan, NJ 07747. Burial will follow on Thursday, October 28, at Holy Cross Burial Park, 840 Cranbury South River Road, Jamesburg, NJ 08831. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to either Raritan Bay Medical Center or the National MS Society.
