Connie Hsu

July 5, 1968 - August 25, 2021

Connie Hsu of Marlboro, New Jersey, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 25, 2021, after a courageous battle with stage 4 lung cancer. She was 53 years old. Connie was born in Kaohsiung, Taiwan on July 5, 1968, to Chen Teh Pao and Chen Chuen Lien. She met her beloved husband and best friend, John Hsu, in New York City, and they later married in California on March 16, 2004. They had two sons, Jayden and Evan, who made their life together complete. She enjoyed traveling, cooking and entertaining family and friends. She especially cherished time spent with her children, cheering them on at the tennis court, listening to them master beautiful pieces on the piano, and sharing in the little, every day moments that shaped all of their lives. Connie had a strong sense of self and purpose, which was grounded in her Buddhist faith and the immense love she had for her family. She was also business savvy and sported a true entrepreneurial spirit. As the owner of Avenue East Restaurant in Cranford, New Jersey, she took great pride in the small business that she and her family had worked so hard to make successful and the many meaningful friendships she cultivated there throughout the years. Her gentle kindness touched all those that were fortunate enough to know her. Her smile was ever present and her quiet resilience and fortitude unparalleled. She carried herself every day and in her final days with elegance, grace and bravery; with a grateful and giving heart, and without a single complaint or ounce of negativity. Connie is survived by her devoted husband, and their two sons; her caring mother, two brothers and a sister; as well as her many loving brothers-in law, sisters-in-law, cousins, nephews and nieces. She is predeceased by her father. The family will receive friends on Sunday, August 29, 2021 from 12:00pm until 4:00pm at the Waitt Funeral Home, 501 Highway 79, Morganville, NJ 07751. The family would like to express sincere appreciation for the dedication and care received by the medical professionals and staff of the Hackensack University Medical Center and John Theurer Cancer Center.
