Claire Settimo, age 84, of Old Bridge, NJ passed away on December 3, 2021. Claire was born in Brooklyn, NY on September 17, 1937 to Sam Shammas and Getta Kasbar. She was raised in Brooklyn and attended Bay Ridge High School and Kingsborough Community College, where she earned her Associate Degree in Education. Claire taught as a paraprofessional at Fort Hamilton High School. She married Ernest Settimo in 1958 and had two sons, John and Michael, and a daughter, Suzanne. Claire lived in New Jersey for 20 years and also taught for the Old Bridge school district. She was a devout Catholic who loved to sing in various church choirs and instilled her faith in her children. Claire loved her family and enjoyed parties with her children and grandchildren. She found great joy in cooking Italian and Arabic cuisine, playing 500 Rummy and Bingo, and going on family vacations. She was the biggest General Hospital fan. Claire was predeceased by her father and mother, her husband, Ernest, and her brothers, Victor, George, and Joseph Shammas. She is survived by her sons, Michael (Toni) Settimo and John (Susan) Settimo, her daughter, Suzanne (Chris) Settimo, and her grandchildren, Matthew, Janna, Natalie, Sean, Victor, and Daniel. Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 9, 2021 from 4:00 pm - 8:00 pm at Old Bridge Funeral Home, 2350 Route 516, Old Bridge, NJ 08857. Mass will be held on Friday, December 10, 2021 at 10:30 am at Nativity of Our Lord Byzantine, 700 Old Bridge Turnpike, East Brunswick, NJ 08816. Burial will follow at 1:00 pm at Brigadier General William C. Doyle Veteran Memorial Cemetery, 350 Province Line Rd. Wrightstown, NJ 08562. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Alzheimer's or Diabetes organizations.
