Charles W. Mandeville

February 5, 1918 - May 30, 2015

Bedle Funeral Home 212 Main Street, Matawan, NJ  07747 732-566-1962 Charles W. Mandeville (97), formerly of Matawan, passed away peacefully Saturday morning, May 30, in his home in Ottsville, Pa, where he resided with his daughter, Carol.  Born February 5, 1918, Rahway, NJ, he is predeceased by his wife, Eleanor Wyckoff Mandeville and his older brother, George Donald Mandeville. He is survived by his daughter Carol; two sons Charles (Chip) and Stephen and his husband Victor Aluise, and grandchildren, Tracy Caldwell, Scott Caldwell, Charles Daniel Mandeville, Evangeline Mandeville, and Michelle Mandeville.   Charlie spent most of his life in Matawan, NJ, graduating from Matawan High School and Monmouth College, Long Branch, NJ. He served his country during WWII in the Army Signal Corp in both North Africa and Italy where he was awarded the Bronze Star. During his lifetime he was regarded in high esteem for his honesty and fairness in professional positions as Vice President of the Matawan Branch of Central Jersey Bank & Trust Company, Manager of Marlboro Branch of same(simulteously), and Financial Consultant to Lawn Doctor. He was an active and ardent member of the Matawan community, serving as President of the Matawan Chamber of Commerce, Board of Directors of Bayshore Community Hospital, Matawan Board of Health, just to name a few... not to mention a gig as choir director for the First Baptist Church of Matawan. Charlie loved opera, classical music, world travel, reading, learning, thinking... and the list goes on. But most of all he loved the company of his family and friends... and a good party! His memorial service will be held on June 20th at Bedle Funeral Home in Matawan from 11AM-1PM with a celebration of his life beginning at 11:30AM. We encourage all to share a story or two! In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made in Charlie's memory to World Wildlife Fund 1250 24th Street, N.W. Washington, DC 20037.
