Charles Sing Louie

October 19, 1948 - March 6, 2022

Charles Sing Louie, 73 of Old Bridge passed away Sunday, March 6, 2022 at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, New Brunswick. Charlie was born in Toy Sun, China in 1948, the son of Shew Him Louie and Anne Lau Louie. He came to the United States with his family when he was 10 years old. His family lived in Manhattan and then moved to Brooklyn. After meeting Ellen on a bowling league, they married and moved to Old Bridge where they have lived for the past 34 years. They have a daughter and a son. And a dog. And a granddog. Charlie graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics and received his Master of Science in Transportation Planning from The Polytechnic Institute of Brooklyn. Charlie was a traffic engineer for the City of New York, Department of Transportation, and was thoroughly enjoying his retirement. Charlie served our country honorably for 20 years in the United States Army Reserve. Charlie loved playing chess and mah jongg. He was an avid reader, his favorite subjects being science fiction and any sort of techno-thriller. He also enjoyed watching movies and one of his favorites was "The Natural." He was a serious Game of Thrones fan, enjoyed Bob Dylan and The Beatles, and was a huge NY Yankees fan. Above all this, Charlie was devoted to his family and will be missed by all who knew and loved him. Charlie was predeceased by his parents and his brother Harry. He is survived by his wife of 36 ¼ years, Ellen, his daughter Davita, his son Garrett, his brother Wo and his beloved pup Lai See and grand dog Harley Quinn. Friends and family are invited to attend a Memorial Service celebrating Charlie's life on Saturday, March 12, 2022 between the hours of 2:00 and 4:00 pm at the Old Bridge Funeral Home, 2350 Rt 516, Old Bridge. Military Honors will be presented at the conclusion of the gathering.
